WHY: Don't miss this important dialog about what various faith communities are doing and actions you can take to build stronger anti-hunger efforts in your community through charity, service, and advocacy.
The faith community is at the heart of anti-hunger relief. Fifty-five percent of the local feeding agencies supported by Feeding America food banks are faith-based, and many churches, synagogues, and mosques provide pantries and kitchens in communities nationwide.
As part of Hunger Action Month, speakers will talk about the importance of public-private partnership in ending hunger and outline simple ways that you can take action in your community. With Congress considering a 20 percent cut to food stamps and the elimination of more than 700,000 women, infants and children from WIC, speakers will address the potential impact on hungry people and the charitable food system, and outline steps communities can take to strengthen their efforts to end hunger through service and advocacy.
