Virtual School Leadership Alliance Adopts Private SoftChalk Cloud eLearning Platform

RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- SoftChalk, LLC, a leading developer of eLearning software solutions, announced today that the Virtual School Leadership Alliance has selected Private SoftChalk Cloud as their eLearning platform.

The Virtual School Leadership Alliance is a consortium of thirteen district, state, and national K12 virtual schools who work collaboratively on curriculum development and advocacy for online education. Their interest in Private SoftChalk Cloud stemmed from their need for a more efficient way to share their existing SoftChalk content, and work collaboratively on future content creation among the institutions.

"Our goal for the future is to maintain sustainable growth in content development, so Private SoftChalk Cloud seemed like the best tool," says Jason Neiffer, Curriculum Director at Montana Digital Academy, one of the founding schools of VSLA.

The consortium plans to utilize the collaborative capabilities of Private SoftChalk Cloud, however most of their excitement comes from the ability to create and share content among institutions using different learning management systems. Previously, their SoftChalk content was hosted in four different LMSs among the institutions, making collaboration and sharing of course materials difficult.

This Private SoftChalk Cloud, created specifically for VSLA, will first house the learning objects of Indiana Online Academy, Illinois Virtual School, Montana Digital Academy, Michigan Virtual University, and Idaho Digital Learning Academy, with the possibility of other institutions within VSLA following suit.

Private SoftChalk Cloud is a content authoring platform and repository of community-created content that can be customized for and administered by an organization. It allows institutions to create, collect, manage and share eLearning content in their own, privately branded, cloud-based learning object repository.
