Virginia Senator Warner Holds Town Hall at MicroTech Headquarters
Senator Mark Warner Holds Executive Session with MicroTech CEO, Tours MicroTech Innovation & Integration Center
VIENNA, Va., Oct. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Virginia Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) made a special appearance today at MicroTech corporate headquarters in Northern Virginia, where the technology systems integration leader hosted a town hall meeting attended by over 100 MicroTech employees and management, as well as invited guests and members of the press. Joining the session via video teleconference were MicroTech employees in the Greensboro NC office. In his remarks about the current state of America, the Senator said, "It's time for people to check their Republican and Democratic hats at the door and put being American first."
During the hour-long event, the Senator discussed the economy, jobs, and the strength of business in the state. Senator Warner is a champion for small businesses, and has worked to improve the performance and accountability of federal agencies while also celebrating stand-out members of the federal workforce. MicroTech is a two-time GovStar award winner as a government contractor, a GovCon finalist, and the No. 1 8(a) business serving the Federal marketplace.
MicroTech provides Technology Services, Systems Integration, Product Solutions, Unified Communications & Collaboration, Cloud Computing, and Innovation & Integration to the public sector, as well as Fortune 500 enterprises -- managing more than half-a-million tech users daily. A prime contractor on more than 100 Federal projects and 28 procurement vehicles, MicroTech offers access to over 2500 vendors and over a million tech products and services across the government.
"We are honored to host Senator Warner, a truly progressive leader in the state, and appreciate the time he spent with all of the MicroTech employees," said Tony Jimenez, President & CEO of MicroTech. "The Senator has always been a passionate advocate of business in the state and the Virginia economy, and his efforts in office have made a positive impact on the state's No. 1 standing as a friend to business, and specifically small business. I made the right decision in basing MicroTech in Virginia because of political leaders like Senator Warner."
The Senator also toured the MicroTech Innovation & Integration Center (I2C) and learned more about emerging technology like the MicroKloud™ line of private cloud solutions.
Formerly Virginia state governor from 2002 to 2006, Mark Warner was elected to the senate in 2008 and serves on the Senate's Banking, Budget, Commerce and Intelligence committees. When he left office in 2006 as governor, Virginia was recognized as the nation's "best-managed state" and the "best state for business."
