vineyard vines Partners with Jim Nantz on Forget-Me-Knot Tie to Benefit the Nantz National Alzheimer Center
STAMFORD, Conn., March 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- vineyard vines, a brand best known for its whimsical neckties and smiling pink whale logo, announced today it will partner with CBS Sports commentator Jim Nantz to produce and sell ties with proceeds benefitting the Nantz National Alzheimer Center (NNAC). The Jim Nantz Forget-Me-Knot tie launched online today on www.vineyardvines.com and is available for purchase for $85 with 20% of proceeds going back to NNAC.
Jim Nantz, the voice of CBS Sports for over 30 years, watched his father suffer with Alzheimer's for over 13 years. In 2011, Jim Nantz along with his wife, Courtney, partnered with Houston Methodist Hospital to open the NNAC, which has become a world-renowned center for Alzheimer's care. Under the leadership of Dr. Stanley H. Appel and Dr. Joseph Masdeu, the NNAC is focused on leading research to identify how to prevent and treat this debilitating disease as well as providing resources and support to patients, their families and caregivers.
"We have so much respect for Jim" said Shep Murray, vineyard vines CEO & co-founder. "Giving back is one of the pillars of our business, so we're thrilled to support such an important cause." "We can relate to Jim's story of losing a parent to a horrible disease," said Ian Murray, vineyard vines CEO & co-founder. "Jim's dedication to the Nantz National Alzheimer Center is truly inspiring."
"My voice always sounded identical to my dad's voice," said Nantz. "I had an epiphany after I wrote a book about my father, that my dad's voice would be heard through me. When we opened the NNAC, our goal was simple - to build the greatest clinical care and research institute in the world. Now, thanks to Shep & Ian and their wonderful team at vineyard vines, we will be raising awareness and money for critical research to find a cure for Alzheimer's. I am on national television practically every week and hopefully viewers at home will look at these fantastic ties and say – 'that's the guy who is on a crusade to find a cure for Alzheimer's.'"
Jim wears the symbolic Forget-Me-Nots as a tribute to the loved ones we've lost, those in the fight and the caregivers who are always by their side. The tie will be available for purchase while supplies last.
