MCLEAN, Va., May 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced that Vincent A. Maffeo will join the company as executive vice president and general counsel, effective June 7, 2010. Maffeo will succeed Douglas E. Scott, who has served as general counsel since 1992 and will remain with SAIC as secretary of the Board of Directors.
Maffeo will report to SAIC Chief Executive Officer Walt Havenstein and will be responsible for oversight of all the company's legal matters. He previously served as senior vice president and general counsel at ITT Corporation, a global manufacturing and engineering services corporation. Maffeo joined ITT in 1977, and held key legal positions in the company's telecommunications, defense and automotive businesses, and at the European Headquarters of ITT Europe, prior to becoming general counsel in 1995.
