DAVIS, Calif., July 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The VIN Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, providing tools and resources to support veterinary students and veterinarians throughout their careers, is excited to announce the launch of Vet School Bound, a comprehensive website providing pre-veterinary students with tips and tools for the veterinary school application process.
Pre-veterinary students don't have to do all the groundwork to choose a veterinary school alone. Vet School Bound provides the up-to-date information on veterinary school costs, class sizes and prerequisites for all U.S. and Caribbean veterinary schools. The mobile-friendly, intuitive website pairs interactive maps with engaging videos.
To build this resource from a student's perspective, the VIN Foundation collaborated with University of Missouri veterinary student Rachel Courville. Rachel, founder of the YouTube channel Bella Vet, stated, "I am honored to be involved in Vet School Bound because it is everything that I wish I had when I was applying to vet school. I remember spending late nights looking up details and requirements for each school I was applying to, and making my own spreadsheets so it would all be in one place. It makes me so happy that future applicants will have all of that information at their fingertips in an intuitive, reliable format."
Vet School Bound currently addresses the following areas of interest with more being added soon:
- What will my veterinary education cost? This section uses the VIN Foundation Cost of Education map to provide a realistic look at the cost of veterinary school attendance, taking into consideration resident, non-resident, and private tuition along with living expenses.
- What prerequisites do I need for veterinary school? Prerequisites can differ dramatically between veterinary schools. The interactive map in this section lets veterinary school applicants compare classes required by each veterinary school and assess how close they are to completing those requirements.
- What veterinary school class size best fits me? Veterinary school class sizes vary, and can impact a student's school choice. The map in this section compares class sizes for each school.
Like all VIN Foundation programs, Vet School Bound is free. You may learn more at http://VetSchoolBound.org and share with friends and colleagues to help the veterinary profession thrive.
The VIN Foundation was created by members of the Veterinary Information Network (VIN) in 2005. VIN is an online community of veterinarians and veterinary students with over 58,000 members worldwide.
