The business started in 1964 and has evolved throughout the years to become the North Shore's Premium Source for area rugs and carpets. When Sue Suster started creating and developing custom rugs over 30 years ago, her designs were in such demand, both in the U.S. and in her luxury rental home in Queretaro, Mexico, that both Sue and her husband, Rip, took the opportunity to expand by incorporating them into the specialized boutique rug and carpet store - Village Carpets.
Village Carpets, one of the iconic Hubbard Woods Design District retailers, will be closing their doors forever. The Public Store Closing Sale, which begins Friday, October 14th, will offer liquidation prices on high-end area rugs, custom carpets, and fixtures.
"We have enjoyed a tremendous relationship with the people of Winnetka and the surrounding communities for over 40 years. We have now made the strategic decision to close our showroom and sell out our entire and complete stock," said Rip Suster, store owner and community figure.
The coordinated sale is expected to draw tremendous crowds due to the low prices Village Carpets & Rugs will be offering on its entire stock. Everything, including their newest merchandise and special orders, will be included in this Historic Sale.
