Vikings Blade The Vulcan Safety Razor Hands-on: A Bigger, Heavier Brother of The Chieftain
BENTLEIGH, Australia, Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Vikings Blade, a men's grooming boutique business from Australia known for creating the widely popular Chieftain and Godfather safety razors in 2015, has announced the upcoming release of a brand new safety razor model named "The Vulcan" just in time for Christmas 2017.
Due to the success of their previous razors (especially the legendary Chieftain model that has become the number 1 bestseller razor on Amazon USA over the past 2 years), Vikings Blade decided to introduce a longer, heftier and head-heavier butterfly style razor.
Over the past 6 months, multiple prototypes have been sent out to a group of wet shaving enthusiasts and the feedback has been nothing short of spectacular.
According to a beta tester, "If you are a fan of the Chieftain safety razor, I guarantee you will absolutely worship the Vulcan. If you think the Chieftain razor is designed for a mighty warlord, the Vulcan razor is designed for the Gods of Valhalla."
Over the past few years, Vikings Blade has gathered a small but extremely enthusiastic customer base in the US since they first introduced the Chieftain safety razor on Amazon, a razor whose unique design was inspired by Thor's hammer in Norse mythology.
Subsequently, Vikings Blade released a few more revisions of the Chieftain into the US market. One particular revision (Revision C, released end of 2015) due to its lightweight, simplicity and the omission of branding on the mold, became a target for many OEM resellers (including one of Vikings Blade's partner factories in China) to clone and mass produce at the height of the Chieftain's popularity on Amazon.
This led to untrue speculations and malicious accusations on popular wet shaving forums about whether Vikings Blade was really the original designer of the Chieftain razor or just another OEM reseller.
Such accusations were refuted after Vikings Blade's partner factory in China issued a public press release in 2017 confirming that they indeed mass-produced a similar but lighter and cheaper clone for a group of OEM resellers who wanted to free ride on the popularity of the original Chieftain design by Vikings Blade.
