ViewRay's Chief Medical Officer Honored by American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO)
Prabhakar Tripuraneni, MD, to Be Presented with Gold Medal, ASTRO's Highest Honor
CLEVELAND, May 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Prabhakar Tripuraneni, MD, chief medical officer at ViewRay™ Incorporated and head of radiation oncology at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, California, has been selected to receive a Gold Medal from the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). The Gold Medal is ASTRO's highest honor, bestowed on highly regarded members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of radiation oncology. The award will be presented at ASTRO's 2013 Annual Meeting in September.

A practicing physician, Tripuraneni served as president of ASTRO in 2004–2005 and has been recognized as a fellow of both ASTRO and the American College of Radiology (ACR). He is a graduate of Guntur Medical College in South India and a pioneer in coronary vascular brachytherapy. In 2009 he became chief medical officer at ViewRay, a privately held medical device company.
