Platform to Power Arena Football League for 2017 Season (4/7 Launch)
ViewLift-powered Monumental Sports Network also named 2017 Sports Media Finalist
WASHINGTON and NEW YORK, March 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- With two weeks to go before kickoff of its 30th season, the Arena Football League is fielding a new technology partner to reach football fans directly and globally: ViewLift, a leading digital content distribution and monetization platform, was announced as the AFL's lead digital platform partner today. Adding the League to an already-impressive roster of sports leagues and teams, ViewLift also announced that Monumental Sports Network, a multi-platform regional sports network built by ViewLift for distribution across web, mobile, and OTT applications, has been selected for a 2017 Sports Media Award.
April 7 represents a new beginning for the Arena Football League, with the season's opening kickoff pitting two new expansion teams against each other at the Verizon Center in the nation's capital: The Washington Valor and The Baltimore Brigade. These two new teams join existing members in Cleveland, Tampa Bay, and Philadelphia in the fast-paced, high-scoring League. ViewLift has already launched the League's website, and will be rolling out mobile applications for the AFL over the course of the season.
"AFL action is fast and furious on the field," noted AFL Commissioner Scott C. Butera. "Our digital platform must bring the excitement of the arena to our fans wherever they want to watch. ViewLift moves at that speed, and is the leader in digital technology, for live games and VOD. Our ownership group also run top NBA and NHL franchises; they demand a digital product that will quickly rise to the quality levels of those larger leagues. With the right partners like ViewLift, this 30th AFL season will put points on the board for football fans everywhere. And that's just the beginning."
Concurrently, another ViewLift client, Monumental Sports Network, saw its platform selected as a finalist for the 2017 Sports Media Awards, competing against the likes of the NFL and MLB (winner to be announced by Cynopsis Media on April 13 in New York City). Monumental Sports Network VP & General Manager, Zach Leonsis, said "We are proud that our Network is being considered with the biggest players in sports. Our success is in large part due to the support and hard work of great partners like ViewLift and NBC Universal. ViewLift enabled us to develop and launch a complete end-to-end platform for web plus easy-to-use applications across iOS and Android mobile devices, and large screens via Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Xbox, and Chromecast. Being named a finalist for this award confirms our belief that ViewLift provides us with a platform that competes with the best in our class."
"We live and breathe sports," noted Rick Allen, ViewLift's CEO, "so we love to bring games and related programming to our fellow fans – crystal clear, live and on-demand, and via the devices they watch on the run or at home. We're honored to power the AFL digitally, and for our work with MSN to have received this industry attention. Our clients are helping us make ViewLift the sport platform of choice."
