ViewCast's Niagara 2120 Streaming Media Appliance Goes Backpacking With Go-Live's New Ultra Portable Broadcasting System
'All in one' Go-Live broadcast kit enables broadcasting and production of live events with minimal technical requirements and cost
PLANO, Texas, Dec. 21, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ViewCast Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: VCST), a developer of industry-leading solutions for the transformation, management and delivery of digital media over enterprise, broadband, and mobile networks, today announced that Israeli-based Go-Live has selected ViewCast's Niagara® 2120 streaming media appliance for its Go-Live broadcasting Kit®, a portable, light-weight broadcast device that transmits high-quality live video on the internet via a fully mobile and wireless workflow.
A true end-to-end solution, the Go-Live Kit allows real-time, professional-quality Flash® H.264 streaming over 3G networks via cellular modem, and is alternatively available with Windows Media 9 support. Offering "push button" simplicity for live, on-location broadcasting and simple IP-based log-in controls, the Go-Live Kit is both easy to use and maintain. Best of all, it fits conveniently in its own backpack and weighs less than 14 lbs., so that it can be easily carried by a single cameraman. The Kit virtually eliminates reliance on expensive satellites and mobile studios, enabling news agencies, TV stations and other production facilities to produce live news events from any location on the globe utilizing available mobile infrastructure.
"When we considered the core streaming appliance that would power our portable broadcasting kit, we decided to buy rather than try to develop the core encoder ourselves. This saved us significant amounts of time and money, and allowed us to focus on the product's key peripheral devices," said Eitan Ortal, CEO and CTO of Go-Live.
"The Niagara 2120 was primarily chosen due to its portability, small form factor and price, but it was as if the Niagara 2120 was built specifically for us," continued Ortal. "It had everything we needed: accessibility, high-quality video encoding, rigid structure, and intuitive operation. We are proud to say that our Kit is now the most reliable platform we offer. It streams in even the most demanding environments, and offers spectacular image quality and long battery life thanks to the core Niagara 2120 encoder."
"Go-Live's novel backpack-contained broadcasting system exemplifies the innovation and agility that ViewCast strives to cultivate with our high-performance, portable Niagara encoders," said ViewCast President and CEO Dave Stoner. "By enabling broadcasters to capture and stream live action wherever it happens without compromising performance or video resolution, ViewCast and Go-Live are helping to push the boundaries of streaming media applications."
