MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- View®, the leader in dynamic glass, today announced the installation of 21,000 square feet of View Dynamic Glass at the new San Leandro Tech Campus (SLTC), a 750,000 square-foot, transit-oriented, state-of-the-art, technology-focused, Class-A business, mixed use campus located in the heart of downtown San Leandro. Phase 1 of the campus includes a 132,000 square foot office building, which is fully leased as the world headquarters of OSIsoft, one of the East Bay's largest private technology companies. The six-story office building uses View Dynamic Glass to let in more natural light, enhancing employee productivity and comfort, while also reducing energy consumption.
Lead SLTC developer Westlake Urban partnered with View to feature dynamic glass as one of the centerpieces of the structure. The sophisticated intelligence engine behind View Dynamic Glass automatically adjusts each window's tint to anticipate the sun's energy, rendering blinds unnecessary and providing a comfortable environment to fuel collaboration and enhance the experience for OSIsoft's employees. View Dynamic Glass offers tenants abundant natural light without unwanted heat and glare, and access to beautiful views of San Francisco, Oakland and San Leandro.
"We are thrilled to partner with Westlake Urban to elevate the occupant experience at SLTC as they redevelop this area into a modern, tech-focused place to live, work, and prosper," said View CEO Rao Mulpuri. "Leading technology companies such as Overstock and CenturyLink have installed View Dynamic Glass to offer greater productivity and wellness for their employees. SLTC's investment will allow tenants in San Leandro to enjoy these same advantages."
View Dynamic Glass has already been installed in more than 250 projects across North America in workplace, education, hospitality and healthcare segments; an additional 150 projects are in various stages of construction. View Dynamic Glass tints automatically in response to outdoor conditions or manually via a mobile device, providing greater thermal comfort and significant energy savings.
"To transform San Leandro into a 21st century center of innovation and technology, we needed to create a new hub where tech companies could recruit and retain top talent," said Gaye Quinn, managing director, Westlake Urban. "We are thrilled to work with View to showcase this forward-thinking and sustainable technology at SLTC. Simply by looking out the window, our tenants will be connected to the Bay Area environment, leading to inspiration in their work."
"OSIsoft believes in cultivating an office environment and company culture where our employees are happy, comfortable and empowered to achieve excellence," said Jenny Linton, president of OSIsoft.
With the HVAC and lighting energy efficiencies enabled by dynamic glass and other technologies, SLTC is on track to achieve LEED Gold Core and Shell certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
