Plant Manager Teri Quigley and Frank Moultrie, chairman of United Auto Workers Local 22, welcomed the students and introduced Todd Dickinson, a teacher at Walnut Creek Middle School in Walled Lake, Michigan. "Mr. D" - as he is affectionately called at his school - went through a lesson plan that covered the properties of electricity, how it is generated and how it can change personal transportation.
After the presentation, Chevrolet Volt Vehicle Line Director Tony Posawatz joined Dickinson on stage for a live question-and-answer session involving the students present and some from those watching on line. Students asked about a variety of topics, including the range of the Volt, the vehicle's safety features and the challenges in building an electric vehicle with extended range.
The lesson plan and other educational materials for different grade levels can be found on the GM education site at http://www.gm.com/education.
