In the first month of 2010, 99.3 percent of the 1.8 million Chevrolet cars and trucks enrolled in Onstar Vehicle Diagnostics were found to have no issues with the key components of their engine and transmission systems. Each month, the service automatically reports the status of key operating systems to drivers, as well as oil life and tire pressure. They are also provided with maintenance reminders based on the vehicle's current odometer reading.
Since the program began in 2006, 122 million vehicle reports have been sent to subscribers. The reports provide a convenient way to monitor preventative maintenance needs and help to reduce warranty claims.
