As gas prices fluctuate and consumer demand grows for more roomy, fuel efficient passenger cars, aerodynamic design has become an important contributing factor to achieving maximum fuel economy for General Motors customers.
With the all new 2013 Malibu, the goal was to have the lowest drag midsize car in the 100 year history of Chevrolet. After more than 400 hours of testing in giant wind tunnels, automotive designers and engineers were able to improve the vehicle's coefficient of drag by nearly 20% as compared to the current model, adding 2.5 miles per gallon at highway speeds.
