NEWBURGH, Ind., Aug. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Indiana, has been purchased by Nebraska-based Dormie Network—a national network of destination golf clubs. With the acquisition, Victoria National joins the ranks of Pinehurst's Dormie Club; Roanoke's Ballyhack Golf Club; Nebraska City's ArborLinks; and San Antonio's Briggs Ranch Golf Club. The growing national network's full-service accommodations, premium amenities, and exceptional golf offer members a unique, pure golf concept.
Victoria National sprawls an over-400-acre parcel of reclaimed mining land in Newburgh, just outside Evansville. The site's waterways and ravines hold more than 500 million gallons of water and include over 80 acres of lakes, some with recorded depths of over 60 feet. Constructed in 1998 by renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio, the course measures 7,239 yards with a rating of 77, a slope of 148, and bent grass tees, fairways, and greens. Fazio's design includes 16 holes with water hazards, dramatic elevation changes, and complex layouts that give way to challenging golf. The club is currently ranked #43 among Golf Digest's greatest courses in America. As part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf, Victoria National also meets standards for environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation, and water quality management.
"Victoria National simply couldn't be a more perfect fit," said Dormie Network's Zach Peed. "It's an absolutely exceptional course with premium amenities, and it's secluded from roadways and residential housing. It's exactly the caliber of club Dormie Network members are looking for."
Dormie Network included ArborLinks and Ballyhack Golf Club at the time of its founding in 2016. The acquisitions of Briggs Ranch Golf Club and Dormie Club followed in 2017. Capital improvement projects, which are currently underway or in the planning stages at every club in the network, include course maintenance and agronomic improvements, the construction of cottages, the installation of on-course comfort stations, clubhouse renovations, and the addition of course maintenance and practice facilities, among others.
With the acquisition, Victoria National becomes Dormie Network's fifth club. Under new ownership, it will see immediate upgrades to its maintenance equipment and golf cart fleets. Also in the works are longer-term plans to upgrade the course's Sub Air systems and several additional capital improvement projects.
"It's not just about growing Dormie Network," said Peed. "It's about reinvesting in course conditions and amenities in ways that add value to the pure golf experience for our members and their guests."
