ARLINGTON, Va., July 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- As Army Futures Command takes shape, the message is clear: Science and technology drive the next chapter of the Army's mission. What's at the forefront of the charge is the center of three days at the Army Science & Technology Symposium and Showcase, presented by NDIA, Aug. 21-23, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.
Themed "Empowering a soldier's success," the event features top Army leaders who will address this exciting and important time and how it fits into the service's six modernization priorities. Speakers include:
- Gen. James McConville, Army vice chief of staff
- Bruce Jette, Army assistant secretary for acquisition, logistics and technology
- Mary Miller, performing the duties of assistant secretary of defense for research and engineering
- Thomas Russell, Army deputy assistant secretary for research and technology
Programmers and practitioners guiding the service into this new era will be on hand to discuss research, development, engineering and the industry as they look to field soldiers with cutting-edge capabilities. Presentations and panels featuring more than 100 abstracts – culled from more than 500 submitted -- are open to discuss and debate modernizations that will make future soldiers successful and bring them home safely.
Be part of the discussion on long-range precision fires, next-generation combat vehicles, future vertical lift platforms, a mobile and expeditionary Army network, air and missile defense capabilities and soldier lethality.
Registration is free for uniformed military. For more information, including specifics on panels and breakout sessions, go to the event website: http://content.ndia.org/events/2018/8/21/army-science
