HOUSTON, Nov. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- William C. Helms, vice chairman of the BBVA Compass board of directors, has been appointed to the Texas Bankers Association's board of directors.
The association has been working to create a dynamic and profitable environment for Texas banks since its founding in 1885. It represents all Texas banking institutions.
Helms joined the bank in 2003 after serving in various leadership roles in the financial industry, including as co-president of Bank of America's private bank. Before stepping up to BBVA Compass' board, Helms led the bank's Wealth Management business, overseeing private banking, asset management, international wealth management, broker-dealer activities and registered investment advisors.
Helms also serves on the board for the Financial Services Roundtable, the American Bankers Association and the McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science. He serves on the Chancellor's Council for the University of Texas System and as an advisory director for the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas.
