Viaplay Selects thePlatform as Central Video Publishing System for Pay-TV Services Across Connected Devices

SEATTLE, Dec. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- thePlatform, the leading white-label video publishing company and independent subsidiary of Comcast, today announced that it has been selected to provide the back-end video management for Viaplay, the Nordics leading online service for TV shows, movies and sporting events.
Viaplay provides both online and set-top box-based TV services, and is part of Modern Times Group (MTG), an international entertainment broadcasting group with operations that span four continents and include free-TV, pay-TV, radio and content production businesses. Under today's agreement, thePlatform's cloud-based, mpx video publishing system will manage Viaplay's TV services to support viewers on PCs, smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, Xbox, PlayStation 3, as well as Viaplay's OTT set-top box.

mpx's Role across Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland
thePlatform's mpx video management system provides several key functions for Viaplay. Specifically, mpx provides easy workflow management of video ingest; metadata management; subscriber management and viewing rights enforcement; and automated publishing across device and video player profiles. Geographically, mpx will manage Viaplay's online TV services in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.
