Viacom International Media Networks Names Julia Phelps Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications
NEW YORK, Dec. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), a division of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIA, VIAB), today announced the appointment of Julia Phelps as Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications. Phelps will oversee all communications and media relations for the company's international multiplatform brands, including MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET, non-premium Paramount Pictures branded channels, VH1, VIVA, MTVHD, COLORS, Game One and Tr3s. Phelps joins VIMN from Viacom Inc., where she served as Vice President, Corporate Communications. She will report directly to Bob Bakish, President and Chief Executive Officer of Viacom International Media Networks.

In her role, Phelps is responsible for VIMN's overall communications strategy and positioning, both externally and internally. She will manage the division's international communications teams as they conduct media relations in support of the programming and events, digital media, corporate responsibility and research, both regionally and on a global scale. Phelps will also oversee communications for business units including ad sales, and consumer products.
Most recently, Phelps served as Vice President of Corporate Communications for Viacom. In her role, she managed communications strategy around a variety of external and internal initiatives, including executive communications, Ad Sales, Content Distribution and Marketing, and Corporate Responsibility. Phelps joined Viacom in 2005 from DeVries Public Relations, a New York-based communications agency. A native of Canada, Phelps holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, and an M.S. in Strategic Communications from Columbia University.
