VetsinTech To Launch Women-VetsinTech Initiative
The national not-for-profit will expand their re-integration programs to provide female veterans with education, mentorship, and community activities.
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- VetsinTech will launch Women VetsinTech, at a reception to follow the Comcast Millennial Tech & Change Summit on November 30. An initiative of the national organization, the Women VetsinTech program aims to increase female veteran representation in the tech industry through outreach, mentorship, and unique career opportunities.
The reception will feature female veterans working in the tech community; including Zoe Dunning, retired naval commander and activist. "Women VetsinTech is poised to create tangible change for women returning from their service," remarked Dunning. "I look forward to standing next to ViT Founder, Katherine Webster as VetsinTech expands their effort to support women vets and military spouses through the next step in their careers."
VetsinTech is committed to bringing together the programs, resources, and networking opportunities necessary for veterans to successfully join the field. Craig Newmark, founder of Craigslist and Craig Newmark Philanthropies and supporter of the initiative, sees this as a critical next step for the industry: "Women veterans are the fastest growing population in the military. As a community, we need to fully recognize the women who have served this country and support those interested in tech careers."
The reception is part of the full day Comcast Millennial Tech & Change Summit. The Summit brings together industry entrepreneurs and business leaders focused on finding solutions and making progress on important social issues – Comcast is a founding partner of the Women-VetsinTech initiative.
The Women VetsinTech reception is free to attend, individuals can register at EventBrite.
