Veterans, variety define U-Haul dealer Meramec Bargains

ARNOLD, Mo., Dec. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Meramec Bargains was already appreciated for its community efforts and commitment to U.S. veterans.

Now the diverse company, which opened a new 8,600-square foot facility in April, has partnered with U-Haul to offer trucks and towing equipment 19 miles southwest of St. Louis.

In addition to U-Haul® products, Meramec Bargains offers home decor from Ashley Furniture® and clothing from upscale department stores like Macy's®. It also functions as a gun and tactical supply location with ammunition, and houses booths for locals who have items they wish to sell.

Bob Hardin, supervisor at Meramec Bargains, said that in a town like Arnold where there are so many lifelong residents, good customer service and positive word of mouth are what keeps them flourishing.

Meramec Bargains owner Chris Hirsch has worked in management for Wal-Mart® and Office Depot®, so he has a firm business foundation. U-Haul Area Field Manager Brad Pfeffer insisted Meramec Bargains is poised for success since it's the only U-Haul dealer in Arnold that is open seven days a week.

Meramec Bargains has endeared itself to the community by teaming with the local Chamber of Commerce to help raise money for veterans and those suffering from cystic fibrosis.

On the innovative front, Hardin said that Meramec Bargains is planning to carry a new pistol camera for police officers. They are in the production stage and should be released soon, Hardin added. The intent is that the cameras, which are located on the pistol and turn on when a gun is drawn from its holster, will provide better technology than body cameras that may not always be on during times of emergency.
