Veterans Training Program Recognizes 20 Companies and Agencies That Have Hired Post-9/11 Vets
ROCKVILLE, Md., May 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A Maryland-based program that helps veterans begin new careers is recognizing 20 companies and government agencies for their support.
NS2 Serves (www.NS2Serves.org), a nonprofit organization established by SAP National Security Services, Inc. (SAP NS2™), offers post-9/11 veterans a rigorous program in information technology and business skills. Trainees also receive guidance in communications skills and "design thinking"; weekly discussions with business mentors; and career placement assistance. Seventeen veterans, representing all five service branches, recently completed the inaugural class, and all are now on their way to great new careers.
Vice Admiral Joseph Kernan (U.S. Navy, retired), a 35-year Navy SEAL veteran and Chairman of the NS2 Serves Board of Directors, praised the companies for supporting the program and, in several cases, hiring the veteran-trainees. The companies are: CSC; SRA; Accenture Federal; HCL Axon; IBM; Deloitte; Huntington Ingalls Industries; CACI; Unisys; Lockheed Martin; Mantech; RTS; JTSI; Perfecta; SAP NS2; and SAP America.
NS2 Serves also recognizes US government agencies that participated in the recent Open House and have extended employment opportunities to previously unemployed post-9/11 veterans: US Department of Agriculture; US Defense Logistics Agency; US Navy; and US Army.
"The young men and women and their families who sacrificed so much for our country deserve our support, and these 20 organizations heard the call," Kernan said. "We thank them for their support. Now that we've succeeded on a small scale, we'll be looking to expand the program with support from even more partner organizations."
Mark Testoni, President of NS2 Serves, echoed Kernan's praise. "We often hear about business and government programs designed to hire our veterans, but the reality is often less than the hype. In this case, these organizations really stepped up to the plate, joined us in this effort, and made a tangible difference. Our veterans are better off – and our country is stronger – because of these organizations."
Going forward, NS2 Serves hopes to continue and expand the program with additional corporate, individual, and nonprofit sponsors. Contributions may be made online via a secure PayPal account.
