Veterans Ride Horses through the Hills of Griffith Park
Tour of Hollywood Park Offers Scenic Views of Los Angeles
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Oct. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Nearly a dozen wounded veterans saddled up to experience the views around Los Angeles on horseback.
Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) hosted the ride through Griffith Park as part of its Alumni program. The goal of the program is to help create support through shared experiences. Whether it is a horseback ride, a nature hike, or group tickets to a sporting event, the WWP Alumni program brings injured veterans together to help in the healing process. WWP provides 20 programs and services to wounded service members, free of charge.
Marine Corps veteran and WWP Alumnus Victor Morales had never been on a horse before but enjoyed his first experience.
"A great experience for being a first-time rider," Morales said. "Really great view of Los Angeles when we got to the top. I also enjoyed taking the group picture."
The group rode single file on the dirt trails of Griffith Park, with the Hollywood sign in full view. They climbed hills near the Griffith Observatory, looked over Los Angeles, and could even see the Pacific Ocean.
The ride allowed veterans like Morales a chance to get to know each other in a different setting, as they rode up trails with the Hollywood sign in full view.
