STAMFORD, Conn., July 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zargis Medical Corp., a majority-owned subsidiary of Speedus Corp. (OTCQB: SPDE), today announced that the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS), a northern California based hospital group that is part of The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) nationwide network of hospitals, recently purchased 15 Zargis Cardioscan systems.
The VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) consists of three inpatient facilities and seven outpatient clinics located in Palo Alto, California and the surrounding region. Affiliated with the Stanford University School of Medicine, VAPAHCS is also a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. VAPAHCS serves more than 85,000 enrolled veterans.
The Zargis Cardioscan heart sound analysis software is designed to help healthcare practitioners analyze cardiac sounds for the identification and classification of suspected heart murmurs, which can be signs of heart disease. In conjunction with the Web-enabled TeleSteth™ platform, the system also allows healthcare professionals to transmit physiological sounds to colleagues located anywhere in the world.
“This order represents the first acquisition of Zargis Cardioscan units by the Veterans Administration,” commented Zargis CEO John Kallassy. “We are optimistic that this implementation at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System will generate interest from other members of the VA’s vast nationwide network of healthcare facilities about incorporating Zargis Cardioscan into their patient care.”
The mission of The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is to serve America's more than 23-million Veterans and their families with dignity and compassion and to be their principal advocate in ensuring that they receive medical care, benefits, social support, and lasting memorials promoting the health, welfare, and dignity of all Veterans in recognition of their service to this Nation.
