Veteran Wildlife Photographer George Ritchey Hosts Amazon Cruise Photography Workshop

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- International Expeditions, the world leader in engaging and authentic nature travel, is offering travelers on its April 22, 2011 Amazon River cruise an opportunity to refine their photography skills with enriching lectures and field instruction by photographer George Ritchey.

With over 35 years of wildlife photography experience and credits including Robb Report, Atlanta Journal Constitution and Birmingham Magazine, Ritchey will teach travelers how to capture, preserve and enhance their memories while exploring the narrow tributaries of the Peruvian Amazon.

"I use every opportunity to help guests have a successful photography expedition, and to make sure they bring home beautiful photos to share," said Ritchey. Prior to their expedition, Ritchey issues questionnaires to each traveler to gauge their skill level and interests. During the Amazon cruise, Ritchey will offer instruction on composing the best wildlife shots in the field, and also teach editing techniques.

Daily outings on this small-ship adventure aboard the 28-guest La Amatista take travelers deep into the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve to photograph diverse wildlife, hike into the rainforest, and even fish for piranha. Guests also spend time with riberenos in remote river villages, handing out school supplies to children and meeting with a local shaman. When not discussing photography, guests can stargaze on the open-air top deck or sip cocktails while enjoying the evening entertainment, courtesy of the ship's local crew.
