Veteran Technology Communications Expert Katie Huang Shin Joins Porter Novelli
NEW YORK, Jan. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Global public relations leader Porter Novelli today announced that Katie Huang Shin has joined the company as executive vice president, deputy client relationship leader on the agency's HP business. She will drive strategy and operations, reporting to Darlan Monterisi, executive vice president, managing director of Porter Novelli New York. Huang Shin will also be responsible for working to grow the agency's Global Technology practice worldwide.

Huang Shin joined Porter Novelli from FleishmanHillard, where she was senior vice president and senior partner, deputy managing director for the firm's global technology sector. In that capacity, Huang Shin worked with regional, office and account team leadership around the world to provide high level strategic communications counsel to a diverse portfolio of technology companies.
Before joining FleishmanHillard, Huang Shin was senior vice president, deputy general manager of Weber Shandwick Northern California, responsible for global client leadership, instilling client service excellence, talent management/staff development and select local operations. In addition, she served as the global client relationship leader for two top 10 technology clients, providing senior strategy and counsel to their global internal and external communications teams.
Previously, Huang Shin was managing director of technology communications firm Horn Group, where she managed the firm's headquarters office and played a senior advisory role to many emerging technology innovators and mid-sized enterprise software providers, helping them build brand, reputation and market leadership with their stakeholders. Earlier in her career, Huang Shin also worked for leading technology PR consultancies Applied Communications (now Bite) and Lois Paul & Partners.

Huang Shin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Washington; a Master of Public Health degree in public health administration from San Jose State University; and a Doctoral degree in organization leadership, specializing in Total Quality Management (TQM), from the University of San Francisco. She is fluent in Chinese and will continue to be based in San Francisco.
