The company picked up the following accolades:
- Best Social Media Campaign – computer software category
- Best Social Media Campaign – application service provider category
- Best Website – application service provider category
"I'm so proud of our marketing team for continuing to produce memorable work," said Janine Popick, CEO/founder of VerticalResponse. "I love that the business-to-business and technology categories are well-represented in the IAC awards – it's inspiring to see so much innovation and creativity coming out of industries that you don't usually expect."
The "Next Teen Tycoon" contest, which won Best Social Media Campaign in two categories, was launched to advance youth entrepreneurship across the country. Participants age 13 to 18 submitted videos about their businesses and the public voted for their favorite entries via Facebook. Winners received more than $10,000 in "seed money" to fund their companies as well as other prizes. VerticalResponse built a microsite, produced a "sizzle" video using hand-drawn illustrations in the style of whiteboard animation, and promoted the contest through strategic partnerships, a huge online public relations effort and social media. Other Best Social Media Campaign winners include work for Boeing, Nike and Revlon.
The company's Small Business Saturday® microsite, which won Best Website, was created to help local merchants take advantage of Small Business Saturday® on Nov. 24, 2012. The site provided a bevy of free resources and ideas, including a photo contest; free Small Business Saturday®-themed email and event marketing templates to help small businesses promote their participation and offers to their email list subscribers; a checklist with marketing ideas and to-dos for every week in November; and pre-written Facebook posts and Twitter tweets. Other Best Website winners include work for The Coca-Cola Company, Jeep and IntraLinks.
The Internet Advertising Competition honors excellence in online marketing. Entries were judged on seven criteria: creativity, innovation, impact, design, copywriting, use of the medium and memorability. A total of 96 industries and nine online formats, including online ad, video, mobile, newsletter, email and social media, were represented in the 2013 awards program.
