FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- VERT, a leader in performance technology, announces its first NCAA women's basketball client with the Mississippi State University Bulldogs. They are the latest premier program to acquire a fully integrated G-VERT™ Team System.
After adding its first NBA client the Miami Heat and first NCAA men's basketball program with Auburn University over the past two years, VERT is now signing its first NCAA women's basketball program with Mississippi State.
The tech company provides performance data for over 200 programs in both college and professional sports.
"I've been interested in VERT since my time in the NBA," said Anthony Harvey, Strength & Conditioning Coach, Mississippi State. "Being able to get a system that calculates this level of mechanical load is cutting edge. Athletic stress monitoring will never be the same."
The G-VERT™ Team System allows coaches to measure a player's peak performance with VERT's machine learning software. The system measures the G-Force of every dynamic movement to provide clients with peak performance of kinetic energy, jump analytics, power, mechanical stress and appendage asymmetry. Coaches, players and fans now have quantitative data to see a player effort by percent of max using pre-established baselines.
The G-VERT™ Team System uses a non-invasive (inertial measurement unit) and is worn on an athlete's waist. It is small enough to be applied to specific appendages to gather asymmetry and limb specific data. Measurements are sent in real-time to VERT's proprietary architecture for performance and injury prevention analytics.
"Women's basketball has an incredibly high rate of lower extremity injury, especially ACL," said David Gil, Performance Lab Director, VERT. "The staff at Mississippi State understands the importance of the insights our system provides, so they can keep their team healthy, strong and at the top of NCAA Women's Basketball."
VERT was the first wearable technology used for in-game play in the NCAA. VERT technology was recently a part of the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship games. Using VERTcast, a sports telemetry system broadcasting through live-screen and television newscast, viewers where able to experience student athleticism in real-time during the semi-final and championship games on ESPN2.
About VERT: Headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., VERT is a leader in wearable athletic technology focused on creating a better experience for athletes, coaches and fans. VERT is used in a variety of sports, including basketball, volleyball, running and many other health and fitness activities. VERT is the official wearable technology of USA Volleyball and is currently used by the USA Volleyball National teams, NCAA volleyball and basketball programs throughout the US.
