Versatile Packagers of Tampa Aids Victims of Hurricane Sandy by Providing Meal Kit Services for the Northeast

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Versatile Packagers of Tampa assembled and managed the logistics of 31,000 meal kits in the month of November for northeast victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Rick Shave, CEO, Versatile Packagers, explains, "We literally took the call from a disaster relief organization on Friday, November 2 and were up and running by Monday, with two separate shifts of production lines to get the kits sent north as quickly as possible."

Contract packaging company Versatile Packagers has a food handling permit from the Department of Agriculture and the Company is known for its quick response and ability to efficiently and effectively perform hand assembly services. When a disaster relief organization needed help establishing several thousand food kits, they called Versatile Packagers in addition to a few other select packagers.

Each meal kit consisted of three separate meals for a total of 21 food items. Foods included cereal, milk, fruit, tuna salad, bread, chips, chili, pasta, pudding and more. Versatile Packagers managed all logistics of the project; receiving all raw materials, staging them, setting up production lines for staff, and loading outbound trucks.
