Vernier Software & Technology's 'LabQuest Mini' Wins Tech & Learning Magazine's Award of Excellence

BEAVERTON, Ore., Dec. 21, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tech & Learning Magazine has named Vernier's LabQuest Mini as a winner in its 2010 Awards of Excellence competition. The Award of Excellence is presented to companies that pioneer innovative applications and demonstrate clear superiority over similar products in the market. This year's Award of Excellence products were tested by education technology experts from the New York City Department of Education, the University of Michigan, and top T&L advisors.

The LabQuest Mini offers an interface solution for educators who use a computer or netbook to collect scientific data. Based on Vernier's flagship interface, the Vernier LabQuest, the LabQuest Mini has many of the same features, without a screen and less than half the price, making it an ideal solution for students using computers to collect data. LabQuest Mini offers the same 100 kHz maximum sampling rate as the LabQuest along with five sensor ports that are compatible with more than 54 sensors. LabQuest Mini includes free Logger Lite software, or for more advanced analysis it can interface with Vernier's Logger Pro® 3 software. Sixteen Vernier lab books covering core topics in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Physical Science, Physics, Physiology, Engineering and Water Quality are also available for hands-on experiments.

A panel of more than 30 educators tested more than 140 entries and chose 78 winners.

Entries were divided into two categories: New Products and Best Upgraded Products. Winning products included software and web-based products, as well as hardware and AV tools. Honorees included resources that addressed curriculum instruction, safety, communication, assessment and other key areas in education.
