Vernier Software & Technology Wins a Tech & Learning ISTE 2018 Best of Show Award
Judges recognize Go Direct® Sound for its promise to bring real-world science into the classroom
BEAVERTON, Ore., July 16, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The newest sensor to join Vernier Software & Technology's family of wireless sensors, Go Direct Sound, was named a winner of Tech & Learning's ISTE 2018 Best of Show Awards for showing the greatest promise in the classroom. With sound-triggered data collection, the Go Direct Sound Sensor provides students with an easy way to capture and evaluate waveforms, along with sound intensity.
"Go Direct Sound is a versatile tool that can be used for so many different experiments and explorations in science and STEM classrooms," said John Wheeler, CEO of Vernier Software & Technology. "We are continuously expanding our Go Direct family of sensors to provide educators the ability to integrate more hands-on experiments into their curriculum. Being recognized by such a prestigious award for the impact this sensor will have on classrooms lets us know we're on the right track."
The Tech & Learning ISTE 2018 Best of Show Award winners are chosen by a Tech & Learning anonymous panel of educator judges who scoured the exhibit hall floor during the recent ISTE conference in Chicago. The judges rated their impressions on a sliding scale, evaluating areas such as quality and effectiveness, ease of use, and creative use of technology. They then met to decide which technologies will have the most impact in the classroom and deserved to be named Best of Show for 2018. A total of 46 products, including Go Direct Sound, were recognized.
Go Direct Sound allows students to collect sound data wirelessly with the snap of their fingers. Students can measure wave amplitude and sound level at the same time to investigate the decibel scale, or take the sensor outside the classroom to discover sounds in their natural environment. The robust, rechargeable battery offers long battery life. Using the free Graphical Analysis™ 4 app, Go Direct sensors connect to students' computer, Chromebook™, or mobile devices via Bluetooth® wireless technology or USB.
