Vernier Science Education Seeking Innovative STEM Educators for Its New Trendsetters Community
Professional learning community designed to support and empower educators, drive STEM literacy, and transform classrooms
BEAVERTON, Ore., Oct. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Vernier Science Education is seeking innovative high school STEM teachers to apply for the first cohort of its newly formed Vernier Trendsetters Community. This professional learning community will help teachers grow in their leadership and knowledge of modern, relevant STEM instruction.
"Our goal with the Vernier Trendsetters Community is to bring together like-minded educators who are passionate about having an impact on the next generation of informed citizens, problem solvers, and community contributors through innovative hands-on instruction," said John Wheeler, CEO of Vernier Science Education. "As Trendsetters, STEM educators will have the opportunity to collaborate and share best practices, all while continuing to learn new ways to engage students with data-collection technology. We look forward to kicking off this program and supporting—and recognizing—the first cohort of teachers."
The Vernier Trendsetters Community is designed to provide teachers with opportunities to enhance their teaching skills, specifically through the use of Vernier data-collection technology, and learn from other committed educators throughout the school year.
Trendsetter Community members will have the opportunity to participate in and provide professional development, collaborate on content with Vernier, provide feedback on programming and upcoming products, attend exclusive events at conferences, and more. In addition, community members could be featured nationally for their implementation of data-collection technology and become eligible to receive financial support to attend and present at conferences.
Vernier Science Education is currently seeking enthusiastic science, math, and/or STEM high school teachers—educators who are excited to share how they implement data-collection technology in their instruction and who strive to inspire a new generation of STEM-literate individuals—to apply for the Trendsetters Community.
Interested teachers must meet certain requirements to be considered. These requirements include, but are not limited to, being a graduate of a higher education institution and having a bachelor's degree in teaching, education, science, mathematics, and/or engineering; being state/federally certified in teaching science and/or mathematics; being a current teacher and having at least five years of instructional experience in science, mathematics, and/or engineering within a classroom setting; having knowledge and instructional experience in implementing the NGSS or state standards; and having a clear and in-depth understanding of current Vernier technology, including the Go Direct® family of sensors and Vernier Graphical Analysis® software.
Applications for the first cohort of the Vernier Trendsetters Community are accepted through November 30, 2023, and the first cohort of the Trendsetters Community members will be announced by January 2024. Applications for the Trendsetters Community will continue on a rolling basis, and the full program will launch Fall 2024.
