"We look forward to offering more consumers in Missouri the latest devices and connectivity with our 4G LTE network," said Brendan Fallis, president—Kansas/Missouri Region, Verizon Wireless. "We were the first to bring 4G LTE to Missouri and we continue to expand service across the state."
The new Verizon 4G LTE network coverage in the three counties will include the towns of St. Genevieve, Potosi, Desloge and Farmington, Missouri. New network coverage will also include Interstate Highway 55 and state highways US 8, US 21 and US 67. Consumers and businesses will be able to sign up for new service with local phone numbers and select from the latest 4G LTE devices, including tablets, smartphones, jetpacks and more, at a new Verizon Wireless "Smart Store" location in Farmington. The new 3,600-square-foot store, located at 555 West Karsch Boulevard, features products in mobile lifestyle zones, which include:
- Amplify It – for music on-the-go
- Get Fit – for tracking healthy habits
- Home and on the Go – for home automation
Verizon's new retail store design, dubbed a "Smart Store," is intended to make shopping for wireless devices and services more convenient and personalized for customers in and around Farmington. Verizon Wireless store representatives will solely use tablets to assist customers with sales and service. Representatives are able to spend more time with customers with the barrier of the cash register and counter eliminated. The company is also integrating systems to make it easy for customers to do business with Verizon across all contact points – online, in stores and through wireless workshops.
To date, Verizon Wireless has more than 100 Smart Stores open in the U.S. The Farmington location is the second Smart Store in the state of Missouri, with the first opening in Springfield in November 2013. Verizon Wireless plans to convert its entire fleet of 1,700 Communications Stores into Smart Stores over the next few years.
4G LTE Coverage and Speed
In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
Missouri Rollout of 4G LTE
Verizon Wireless introduced its 4G LTE network in Missouri in 2010. In 2013 alone, Verizon Wireless invested $68 million in Missouri to ensure its customers have the most powerful network available.
Verizon Wireless is constantly evolving its network to meet necessary demand to remain the nation's largest and most reliable. In 2013, the company began adding network capacity, using its AWS spectrum to ensure that it stays ahead of customer demand for access to its popular 4G LTE network. On August 19, 2014, RootMetrics released its second U.S. State RootScore® Reports and Verizon Wireless received the highest award for overall network performance Missouri.
