Verizon Wireless Expands, Enhances Network Throughout Central Texas
Verizon network made a difference in 2014; ready for 2015
DALLAS, Feb. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2014, Verizon Wireless enhanced its network across multiple markets in Central Texas, including the implementation of its newest technology – known as XLTE – in several communities.
Network Enhancements in Suburban and Rural Communities
XLTE was activated in 16 markets, including Frisco, Allen, Grapevine, Austin, New Braunfels, Midland, Odessa, Corpus Christi, Lubbock, Shreveport, Amarillo, Abilene, Waco, Texarkana, Wichita Falls, Longview, Tyler and Sherman. These activations boost 4G LTE network capacity and enhance high-speed services for new and existing customers in the region.
Network Enhancements in Major Cities
Additionally, new LTE sites were activated in major cities, such as Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio. The expanded network capacity in suburbs surrounding major cities, such as Allen, Frisco and Fairview will support the rapid growth in population and new business there, as well as support high-traffic locations such as malls, sports arenas and concert venues. Specifically in Allen, the Verizon XLTE network provides incremental support for present and future customers in the newly developed residential areas west of Allen near Highway 121.
"Texas is home to some of the nation's largest cities, drawing in several national events throughout the year. Our team is focused on providing customers with the best network experience in the industry," said Lee Maschmann, executive director of network for Central Texas, Verizon Wireless. "To keep pace with the growth in the region, Verizon continues to deploy additional enhancements to the wireless network."
2014: Big Year, Big Network
The Central Texas Network team enhanced cell sites and coverage in 2014 during large-scale, national events, such as the Formula One Grand Prix race in Austin, IndyCar racing at Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin's annual music, film and interactive media conference. This allowed customers to experience optimal network performance while sending e-mails, text and pictures messages, connecting to the Internet, and accessing applications on their mobile devices.
Network Enhancements Matter
First launched in December 2010, the Verizon 4G LTE network is virtually complete, covering more than 500 markets nationwide and nearly 98 percent of the U.S. population. Verizon has expanded its XLTE network in more than 400 markets to boost 4G LTE network capacity for customers. The company continues to invest in wireless network enhancements nationwide, and consistently earns top rankings from independent consumer reporting and testing institutions for network quality and performance.
