Verizon Wireless Earns Top RootMetrics® Ranking For Overall Network Performance In Michigan
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless, a technology leader with the nation's largest and most reliable 4G LTE network, was the overwhelming network performance leader in the rankings of four national wireless providers in the United States in the third National RootScore® Report issued today by Seattle-based RootMetrics®. Among the four major wireless carriers, Verizon won the Overall RootScore award in the state of Michigan and also earned top scores in Reliability, Speed, Data Performance, with a tie in Call Performance and Text Performance in Michigan. This is the third consecutive report by RootMetrics showing Verizon with Top Performance in Michigan.
"This isn't about the awards, but rather the trust our customers place in us to get it right when they need us most," said Lauren Love-Wright, Verizon Wireless region president for Michigan. "Wireless is an integral part of our customers' lifestyles and Verizon will be there with a reliable connection, whether going for a jog and monitoring fitness or calling for help after sliding off the roadway in a snow storm."
When record snowfall hit Metro Detroit last week, the third biggest storm in Detroit's recorded history, the Verizon Wireless network remained fully operational. The Verizon network team worked around the clock to make sure customers had uninterrupted service to check on family members or to do work without delay. Verizon continuously tests back-up batteries and generators at key network facilities to keep power flowing and to deliver reliable wireless services to customers every day.
RootMetrics, an independent mobile analytics firm, drove thousands of miles throughout Michigan, as well as testing many indoor locations. The company said its national study was designed to portray the consumer mobile network performance experience at a national and state level, beyond their metro-specific reports. Each RootScore is calculated from a combination of tests that are weighted to reflect the impact that a consumer would experience. Scores were based on RootMetrics testing performed in the second half of 2014 (July-December). The company ranked the four major U.S. wireless providers in six network performance categories: Overall, Reliability, Speed, Data, Call and Text.
In Michigan, Verizon has rolled out its latest XLTE network technology throughout the state. XLTE utilizes Verizon's AWS (Advanced Wireless Services) spectrum to double 4G LTE network capacity. Greater capacity means more customers at once can send photos, download videos, surf the Internet and more at peak speeds on their smartphones, tablets and other devices.
