Verizon upgrades Custom TV with simpler choices and more variety
NEW YORK, Feb. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Last year, Verizon disrupted the traditional TV model through the introduction of Fios Custom TV. This Sunday, the company is introducing the next generation of Custom TV to appeal to an even wider range of value-conscious customers.
Verizon's new Custom TV bundles on Fios TV are designed with the same goals as the originals: to give customers the flexibility and choice to only pay for the types of channels they want and not the ones they don't.
Two New Plans
The new Custom TV gives Fios TV customers a choice of two great plans:
- Custom TV – Essentials, which has much of TV's most popular content in the Lifestyle, Entertainment, Pop Culture, Kids, and News categories including Discovery Channel, Lifetime, History, Bravo, Fox News and many other channels.
- Custom TV – Sports & More, which has the most popular national sports networks, such as NBCSN, Fox Sports 1 and ESPN, all the regional sports networks in a customer's market, and some of the most popular non-sports channels on TV from a variety of genres, including Cartoon Network, CNBC, and TNT.
After choosing their plan, customers can enhance their channel lineup by selecting up to three additional, genre-based add-on packs for only $6 each – Movie Lovers Pack, Kids Teens & Family Pack, and the Global Sports Pack.
As with all Fios TV packages, Custom TV customers will also receive the Fios TV Local package, which includes the customer's local broadcast channels and other local programming.
"For many customers, less is more – they would rather pay less and get more of the content they are actually interested in," said Tami Erwin, president of Verizon's Consumer and Mass Business group. "The original Custom TV has proven very popular since we launched it last year, and we've incorporated our customers' feedback to make the next generation of Custom TV even better with a simpler choice and a much wider variety of channels available."
The new Custom TV expands on the content and value provided by the original Custom TV offer. With Custom TV – Essentials, non-sports fans can now have a full range of lifestyle, entertainment, news, pop culture and kids content included in their bundle with no need to purchase additional channel packs.
With Custom TV – Sports & More, sports fans can now get the most popular national sports networks, all of their regional sports networks, plus a wide variety of entertainment, news, pop culture, kids and more – also with no need to purchase additional channel packs.
Custom TV triple plays with Fios Digital Voice and Fios Internet with symmetrical upload and download speeds of 100 megabits per second, start at $69.99 per month online.
Customers that want the most content can also still purchase Verizon's more traditional Fios TV plans such as Preferred HD, Extreme HD or Ultimate HD, which will satisfy the customer that wants it all – more sports, more entertainment and more movies.
Fios TV offers a broad collection of programming and industry-leading picture quality, with more than 625 all-digital channels including up to 185 HD channels and over 100,000 On Demand titles, and growing. Fios TV is rated No. 1 in HD picture quality, signal reliability, and overall quality according to the 2015 American Customer Satisfaction Index.
Fios Quantum TV offers America's most advanced entertainment experience, with up to 200 hours of HD recording capacity, the ability to record up to 12 shows at the same time, and remote DVR streaming capability.
And for those who want TV Everywhere, the Fios Mobile App streams over 200 live channels in-home and over 125 out-of-home for viewing on iOS and Android devices.
