Verizon to Announce $50,000 in Thinkfinity Grants at July 14 Event in East Providence
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon and the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) will announce on Wednesday (July 14) the four Rhode Island schools and school districts that will receive a total of $25,000 in Verizon Thinkfinity grants. The announcement will be made at a ceremony at the East Providence Career and Technical Center.
Verizon will also announce that for the second straight year it will award a $25,000 grant to RIDE and the Rhode Island Network for Educational Technology. Thinkfinity is Verizon's award-winning online education portal.

BACKGROUND: This is the second straight year that Verizon is awarding grants to schools across Rhode Island to integrate Thinkfinity into the classroom. The grants can be used to for a variety of expenses including teacher stipends, computer hardware and transportation.
Thinkfinity.org offers more than 55,000 educational and literacy resources for teachers, parents and students. Resources include standards-based, grade-specific K-12 lesson plans and engaging interactive activities provided in partnership with many of the nation's leading educational and literacy organizations.
