Verizon to Announce $150,000 in Thinkfinity Grants to Massachusetts Schools at May 10 Event in Malden

MALDEN, Mass., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will announce the 15 Massachusetts schools and school districts that will receive $10,000 Verizon Thinkfinity grants, at a ceremony on Monday (May 10) at Malden High School. Thinkfinity is Verizon's award-winning online education portal.

BACKGROUND: This is the second straight year that Verizon is awarding grants of $10,000 each to 15 public schools across Massachusetts to integrate Thinkfinity into the classroom.  The grants can be used to for a variety of expenses including teacher stipends, computer hardware and transportation.  To date, some 2,500 Massachusetts teachers have been trained to use Thinkfinity.

Thinkfinity.org offers more than 55,000 educational and literacy resources for teachers, parents and students. Resources include standards-based, grade-specific K-12 lesson plans and engaging interactive activities provided in partnership with many of the nation's leading educational and literacy organizations.
