Verizon IndyCar Series Shifts Into High Gear At Firestone 600 On June 7

The Verizon IndyCar Series comes to Texas Motor Speedway the first weekend in June and the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is prepared to provide a top wireless performance for fans.

The Verizon IndyCar Series features racing at a combination of superspeedways, short ovals, road courses and temporary street circuits, offering its international lineup of drivers the most diverse challenges in motorsports.

Texas Motor Speedway is one of the largest sports stadiums in the country with a crowd capacity in excess of 200,000. Known as "The Great American Speedway!," the 1.5-mile superspeedway plays host to races in world-renowned series, including the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series, Camping World Truck Series and the Verizon IndyCar Series.

BACKGROUND:

Verizon was recently named the title sponsor of the IndyCar Series, bringing a high level of innovation and technology to IndyCar's growing audience.

In anticipation of the large number of attendees at this weekend's event, Verizon has deployed three Cells on Light Truck (COLT) with both LTE, including XLTE coverage.  There is also a dedicated single site for the Fan Village to enhanced data performance. These deployments represent 180 percent more capacity than last year's IndyCar race at Firestone.

Verizon recently expanded its XLTE technology to more Texas locations, including Fort Worth, to boost 4G LTE network capacity and enhance high-speed services for customers.

These enhancements mean more IndyCar fans, media and local residents can enjoy high-speed 4G LTE data on their smartphones, tablets and other wireless devices to send pictures and texts, post tweets, search for and watch news on their favorite drivers, and access the INDYCAR 14 app.
