NEW YORK, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- As Verizon continues to enhance football fans' TV-watching experience with everything from Fantasy Football on the TV screen to the NFL RedZone channel and more, the company is about to make the final game even sweeter. FiOS TV customers will get a chance to host one of 1,000 Verizon FiOS Game Day Viewing Parties for the big game on Feb. 6, 2011. Verizon will supply each customer selected with a party pack for the host to help kick off a festive viewing party and to show off FiOS TV's amazing picture-and-sound quality.
"We're excited to once again work with our FiOS customers to celebrate the biggest football day of the year," said John Wimsatt, senior vice president of marketing for Verizon. "We will help our subscribers bring FiOS TV's incredible game-watching experience to thousands of people across the country, providing them with a front-row seat that will make it feel as though they are sitting in the stadium."
From now through Dec. 15, FiOS TV customers can apply online at www.houseparty.com/verizongameday to host one of the house parties. Selected customers will be notified at the end of December, and will receive a party pack from Verizon, complete with a digital picture frame to show off the event, as well as football party favors and decorations including pom-poms, clappers, inflatable footballs and more.
In addition to airing games in both HD and SD, Verizon offers FiOS TV subscribers an expansive football offering, including:
- NFL RedZone channel: This channel, available on FiOS TV Channels 835 in HD and 335 in SD, takes viewers around the league every Sunday afternoon for live coverage of critical plays when any team is inside its opponent's 20-yard line. The channel is included in FiOS TV's Ultimate HD package and is available to any other customer for $39.99 for the remainder of the season.
- Pro Football Widget: One stop for easy access to NFL stats and the RedZone channel, the widget gives subscribers access to rosters, player details and headline news from around the NFL. Customers who subscribe to the NFL RedZone channel also can use the widget to set on-screen alerts for whenever a team is moving into the 20-yard line.
- ESPN Goal Line: A super-highlight channel that takes fans around to some of the best matchups during the NCAA football season, including live look-ins of game action, focusing on scoring drives and up-to-the minute commentary from analysts and experts. ESPN Goal Line, available at no additional cost for customers who subscribe to FiOS TV's Extreme HD or Ultimate HD package, airs on Saturdays in HD on FiOS TV Channel 571 from noon until games are complete, around 11:30 p.m. ET.
- ESPN Fantasy Sports Widget: Provides instant on-screen access to personalized ESPN Fantasy Football points and football statistics, including rosters, box scores, scoring leaders and player information. All the information is available, at no additional charge, for FiOS TV customers who are registered ESPN Fantasy Football players.
In addition, customers can make game-day watching interactive by using Verizon's Twitter and Facebook widgets. By logging on to either widget right on the TV screen, viewers can provide their own game commentary each week and correspond with followers – without missing a second of the game.
