Verizon customers in South Carolina are the real winners in newest RootMetrics® wireless network performance report

COLUMBIA, S.C., Feb. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --Verizon customers in South Carolina are enjoying all the benefits of the top performing wireless network in the state, as rated by the new South Carolina RootScore^® Report by RootMetrics. RootMetrics is an independent mobile analytics firm that uses off-the-shelf consumer smartphones to test the network capabilities of all four major U.S. wireless carriers in six network performance categories across various geographies.

This marks the fifth consecutive time Verizon won the Overall RootScore award in South Carolina.  Verizon was also ranked first in reliability, speed, data, call and text performance. Additionally, for the fifth consecutive time, Verizon's wireless network has been acknowledged by RootMetrics as the leader in overall performance among national wireless service providers across the U.S. Scores are based on RootMetrics drive and indoor tests, including 7,371 miles and 147 indoor tests in South Carolina, from July through December 2015.

Verizon continues to enhance its network in South Carolina by deploying new technology such as small cells and distributed antenna systems and expanding XLTE coverage, which doubles 4G LTE network bandwidth in cities nationwide, with faster peak speeds and greater capacity than before. In addition, Verizon has aggressively deployed LTE Advanced and carrier aggregation, which uses software to combine multiple network channels running on different spectrum bands into one big pipe, significantly increasing speeds for consumers. 

In the Metro RootScore report series, Verizon also was rated highest in overall performance, network speed and data performance in Charleston, S.C. Additionally, Verizon's wireless network was also recognized by RootMetrics as earning the most first place or shared first place rankings among the nation's top airports in the second half of 2015.
