Verizon customers in Minnesota are the real winners in newest RootMetrics® wireless network performance report
MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon customers in Minnesota are enjoying all the benefits of the top performing wireless network in the state, as rated by the new Minnesota RootScore® Report by RootMetrics. RootMetrics is an independent mobile analytics firm that uses off-the-shelf consumer smartphones to test the network capabilities of all four major U.S. wireless carriers in six network performance categories across various geographies.
This marks the fifth consecutive time Verizon won the Overall RootScore award in Minnesota. Verizon also was ranked first in speed and data performance, and tied for first in reliability, call and text performance. Scores are based on RootMetrics drive and 113 indoor tests, including 5,323 miles in Minnesota from July through December 2015.
Additionally, for the fifth consecutive time, Verizon's wireless network has been acknowledged by RootMetrics as the leader in overall performance among national wireless service providers across the U.S.
"We have a relentless focus on providing our customers with the most reliable network possible, especially as everyone's lifestyles become more connected than ever before," said Brian Mecum Vice President of Verizon Network. "The significant investments we have made across Minnesota are evidence of that unwavering commitment. No matter what is happening, Minnesotans expect our network to deliver."
Verizon continues to enhance its network in the North Star State by deploying new technology such as small cells and distributed antenna systems and expanding XLTE coverage, which doubles 4G LTE network bandwidth in cities nationwide, with faster peak speeds and greater capacity than before. In addition, Verizon has aggressively deployed LTE Advanced and carrier aggregation, which uses software to combine multiple network channels running on different spectrum bands into one big pipe, significantly increasing speeds for consumers.
In the RootMetrics Metro RootScore report series, Verizon won the Overall RootScore Award outright in Minneapolis. Additionally, Verizon's wireless network was also recognized by RootMetrics as earning the most first place or shared first place rankings among the nation's top airports in the second half of 2015, with 25 Data RootScore Awards including Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport.
