Verizon customers in Kentucky are the real winners in newest RootMetrics® wireless network performance report

LOUISVILLE, Feb. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon customers in Kentucky are enjoying all the benefits of the top performing wireless network in the state, as rated by the new Kentucky RootScore^® Report by RootMetrics. RootMetrics is an independent mobile analytics firm that uses off-the-shelf consumer smartphones to test the network capabilities of all four major U.S. wireless carriers in six network performance categories across various geographies.

This latest RootScore report rated the Verizon Kentucky network No. 1 in five categories and tied for first in a sixth. In addition to overall performance, Verizon's Kentucky network was ranked highest in reliability, speed, data and call performance and shared first place in text performance. Additionally, for the fifth consecutive time, Verizon's wireless U.S. network has been acknowledged by RootMetrics as the leader in overall performance among national wireless service providers across the country.

Scores are based on RootMetrics tests conducted in 78 indoor location and tests across 2,794 miles in Kentucky, from July through December 2015.

Verizon continues to enhance its network in Kentucky by deploying new technology such as  small cells and distributed antenna systems and expanding XLTE coverage, which doubles 4G LTE network bandwidth in cities nationwide, with faster peak speeds and greater capacity than before. In addition, Verizon has aggressively deployed LTE Advanced and carrier aggregation, which uses software to combine multiple network channels running on different spectrum bands into one big pipe, significantly increasing speeds for consumers. 

In the Metro RootScore report series, Verizon also was rated the No. 1 overall network in Louisville, placing first in data and speed performance and sharing first place in reliability, call and text performance.
