Verizon customers in Florida are the real winners in newest RootMetrics® wireless network performance report

MIAMI, Feb. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon customers in Florida are enjoying all the benefits of the top performing wireless network in the state, as rated by the new Florida RootScore^® Report by RootMetrics. RootMetrics is an independent mobile analytics firm that uses off-the-shelf consumer smartphones to test the network capabilities of all four major U.S. wireless carriers in six network performance categories across various geographies.

This marks the fifth consecutive time Verizon won the Overall RootScore award in Florida.  Verizon also was ranked first in reliability, speed, data and call performance, and tied for first in text performance in the state.  Additionally, for the fifth consecutive time, Verizon's wireless network has been acknowledged by RootMetrics as the leader in overall performance among national wireless service providers across the U.S. Florida scores are based on 482 indoor tests and 14,156 miles in RootMetrics drive tests across the state from July through December 2015.

Verizon continues to enhance its network in Florida by deploying new technology such as small cells and distributed antenna systems and expanding XLTE coverage, which doubles 4G LTE network bandwidth in cities nationwide, with faster peak speeds and greater capacity than before. In addition, Verizon has aggressively deployed LTE Advanced and carrier aggregation, which uses software to combine multiple network channels running on different spectrum bands into one big pipe, significantly increasing speeds for consumers. 

In the Metro RootScore report series for the second half of 2015, Verizon also was rated highest or tied in overall performance in Miami (including Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach), Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Orlando, Kissimmee, Tampa, Palm Bay (Melbourne area), Daytona Beach, Jacksonville and Pensacola. During this same time period, Verizon's wireless network was also recognized by RootMetrics as earning top rankings in Miami (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) airports.
