Verizon Celebrates Earth Day & Having One of the Largest Corporate Green Teams
NEW YORK, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon is honoring Earth Day throughout April with a digital campaign to build awareness about climate change and the environmental issues of our day with Earth Day facts and fun tips on living a greener lifestyle. We encourage our employees to share their green lifestyle tips and Earth Day facts @VerizonGreen, promoting #EarthDay and #HUGATREE.
At Verizon, environmental awareness goes well beyond Earth Day. We've invested more than $137 million in green solar and fuel cell energy since 2013 and encourage our global employee Verizon Green Team to treat every day like Earth Day. The Green Team has grown to more than 17,000 employee members in 28 countries around the world. Our members Work Green and Live Green, they volunteer and lead events where they live, including tree plantings, community cleanups, and eWaste recycling rallies. Nearly 7,000 Verizon Green Team members recently celebrated Earth Hour – turning off lights at their homes across nearly 30 countries, and Verizon darkened nearly 500 building locations around the world.
