Verizon Adds Machine-to-Machine Healthcare Companies to Its Partner Program
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., June 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As the healthcare IT industry continues to evolve, a growing number of medical device manufacturers are bringing to market innovative, machine-to-machine solutions to enable better patient care. Verizon, through its Partner Program, is focusing on certifying these new M2M solutions for use on the company's wireless networks.
Recent new members to the Verizon Partner Program include: Carematix, a provider of telehealth solutions for patient-reported outcomes in clinical trials and disease management programs; and Sonicu, a monitoring, data-collection and advisory system that measures sound and noise levels -- as well as other data such as temperature, humidity and vibrations -- in neonatal intensive care units.
"Verizon's Partner Program initiative is serving as a catalyst toward the adoption of M2M wireless healthcare solutions in the marketplace," said Rich Black, vice president of healthcare services, Verizon. "Solutions such as Carematix are changing the game of healthcare delivery. They truly expand the role of healthcare while empowering patients to take a more proactive role in maintaining and monitoring their health."
Carematix, Other Verizon Partners Program Members Changing the Game in Healthcare
The medical device manufacturers in Verizon's Partner Program use Verizon's networks in a variety of ways. For example, Carematix utilizes Verizon's wireless and wireline networks to support multicountry, multisite clinical trials across the world in an effort to speed research. The trials are conducted in a safe, efficient manner by providing accurate and reliable data in real time, thus helping to accelerate the delivery of new drugs to market.
"We continue to support more trials with our clinically validated data collection methodologies," said Dr. Sukhwant Khanuja, CEO, Carematix Inc. "Verizon's Partner Program allows us to market to more customers a robust set of clinical trial solutions that can help lead to faster drug development through better control over research and trials."
Verizon's M2M Program Drives Innovation
Other Verizon's Partner Program members in the healthcare industry, such as Zipit Wireless and VGo Communications Inc., rely on the company's wireless network to help resolve key issues -- the delivery of critical messaging and the interoperability of healthcare IT systems, for example -- and provide care to patients.
Verizon offers a comprehensive portfolio of managed, IT and consulting services for the healthcare industry to help transform patient care delivery, enhance access to care and better manage costs.
