Vericlave CEO, Joel Bagnal, to Discuss IoT Device Security in Keynote at Connected Things Conference
Hosted by MIT Enterprise Forum Cambridge, the 2019 Event will Explore the Theme Disruptive IoT
BOSTON, March 14, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, just about everything is, or has the potential to be, a connected thing, and disruption has become the status quo. This does not come without a cost, however, as IoT device security has remained largely neglected as evidenced by many notable cyberattacks.
According to IDC, worldwide technology spending on the Internet of Things will reach $1.2T in 2022. Many industries, including discrete manufacturing, professional services, consumer, and telecommunications are among those projected to spend the most on security solutions to combat growing risks of security breaches.
Slated for March 25 at the MIT Media Lab, the Connected Things 2019 Conference will gather speakers, panelists, attendees, and sponsors, including J.D. Power, Nutter, American Tower, Freewave, Very Possible, and the Canadian Technology Accelerator, to explore the forces contributing to disruptive IoT. The Conference will also feature early-stage IoT product companies demonstrating their disruptive technologies.
Joel Bagnal, CEO of Vericlave, and former Deputy Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Advisor, will deliver a Connected Things 2019 keynote address to discuss issues of device security and the proactive approach they practice at Vericlave, which changes the security paradigm from detection to prevention.
"It's become evident that connected things do come at a cost. As systems become more complex, security must follow suit. Joel has experienced disruption at a level most cannot understand," said Mark Thirman, Connected Things conference chair, "His expertise and views on securing critical infrastructure and networks is mandatory for enterprise executives and IoT innovators alike. We're thrilled to welcome him to the MIT Connected Things Conference."
