First European token sale for a venture capital company
BERLIN, Dec. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Asgard – human Venture Capital for Artificial Intelligence, a pioneer in artificial intelligence investments – announces its private token sale for new investors that will focus on early-stage AI companies and projects. This is the first time a European venture capital company has offered a token sale and the first ever token sale solely focused on AI ventures.
"This is an excellent opportunity for investors to not just be on the ground floor of investing in potentially groundbreaking companies, but also to become part of an unmatched opportunity to invest in the future," says Asgard CEO and industry leader, Fabian Westerheide. "We believe companies in this sector are going to connect the planet and make it smarter, more efficient, and a better place to live."
The company claims its private token sale – also called an initial coin offering, or ICO – will unleash the power of artificial intelligence for the greater good, while giving partners a chance to invest in the first wave of an industry expected to be worth trillions of dollars in just a few years.
Numerous reports and statistics show that the AI industry is growing exponentially. McKinsey's analysts predict that AI's market size will reach up to $126 billion by 2025. PWC estimates that AI technology will contribute $15.7 trillion to the global economy.
Co-Founder Dirk Westerheide points out that Berlin-based Asgard has established a worldwide reputation as a pioneering investor in early-stage artificial intelligence companies, as well as other technologies driving the future economy.
"This means we're interested in pure software startups," explains Fabian Westerheide. "We will most likely look for Narrow Artificial Intelligence to solve real-world problems. We're talking about machine intelligence, machine learning, AI Kindergarten, deep reinforcement learning, node networks, neural networks, dialogue systems, adaptive systems, cognitive machines, and autonomous agents – until we have an artificial (general) intelligence."
The company was founded on the belief that we are currently witnessing the mere infancy of AI, which is the global future. Asgard invests in tomorrow's companies – solutions that will ultimately reshape the way we interact with technology that will be fully integrated into our daily lives.
Most current artificial intelligence is considered Narrow AI, artificial intelligence focused on narrow tasks, but experts including Andrew Ng, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg believe the industry is just a few steps away from creating general AI, machines that actually think.
Asgard is deeply rooted in the global, European, and German artificial intelligence communities and hosts the "Rise of AI" conference in Berlin, the largest artificial intelligence gathering of its kind in Europe. Asgard attracts leading researchers, authors, investors, and AI entrepreneurs to debate, contribute, and develop ongoing knowledge of artificial intelligence and its future.
While recent ICOs have aroused caution among some investors, Asgard reports that this token sale has both credibility among venture capital and artificial intelligence communities and is backed by a vision to support the offering as a successful, long-term investment.
"We see this project as a long-term investment with the potential for considerable returns in a diversified asset class through equity and token sales," says Dirk Westerheide.
Asgard is a venture capital firm registered with the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority of Germany and is already an active investor in multiple AI companies.
The minimum investment for the token is €200,000, and investments can be made using fiat currencies – including Euros and U.S. dollars – as well as Bitcoin and Ethereum cryptocurrencies.
