Venture Backed Baby Food Company Yumi Launches Today
With $4.1 Million in Funding, Yumi Begins Delivery Throughout California
LOS ANGELES, June 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Yumi, a new venture backed nutrition and wellness brand for babies is pleased to announce their launch in California today. The science-based early childhood meal service delivers fresh, organic meals to your doorstep, providing the most convenient and healthy option in the market today.
With a holistic approach to baby's health, every Yumi delivery is carefully curated by nutrition experts to give babies what they need during this critical period of development. Yumi worked with a team of dietitians, doctors and chefs to develop their recipes, and the company sources all of its ingredients from organic farms.
"During my pregnancy, I did a lot of research on early childhood nutrition and felt like I was faced with two bad options when it came to solid foods for my baby – either feel the pressure to meal plan and cook every meal, or feel like I was compromising at the center of the grocery store," says Angela Sutherland, Yumi CEO & Co-Founder. "Most baby food products are packed with fructose and are generally older than your baby. I felt like parents needed to have a better choice."
Users select a weekly plan based on their child's age, needs and preferences, Yumi's chefs prepare the meals, and they arrive at your doorstep in insulated, color-coded packages for optimal convenience. Customers have the option to choose single-ingredient purees for babies just starting solids, or a selection of Yumi's signature blends that are intelligently designed and truly fresh.
"We set out to create the ultimate 'worry-free' baby food, and our mission is to empower parents with better choices and trustworthy information," says Evelyn Rusli, Co-Founder and President of Yumi.
Angela Sutherland, Yumi CEO and Co-Founder, was previously a director at Sierra Constellation Partners, a private equity firm and formerly an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. Evelyn Rusli, President and Co-Founder, has spent more than a decade as a journalist, previously on staff at the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times covering startups and innovation.
Yumi received venture backing from August Capital, Brand Foundry, NEA, Cross Culture Ventures and several prominent angel investors.
